The St. Louis-San Francisco Railway, better known as the Frisco, was a 4600 mile system with it's major lines shaped like an X reaching from Penasacola, FL to Kansas City and from St. Louis to Dallas-Ft. Worth and beyond. Hub of the system was Springfield, MO at the center of the X, and still a busy point on the BNSF. The Burlington Northern acquired control of the road in 1980.

Like several other railroads, the Frisco re-engined some of their Baldwin switchers with EMD engines. In the Frisco's case this meant replacing the hood as well. Here is VO-1000m #205 at Kansas City, KS on May 26, 1977.
