BUFFALO & PITTSBURGH
The Buffalo & Pittsburgh RR was created in 1988 by Genesee & Wyoming to take over about 370 miles of CSX trackage from Buffalo, NY south to Eidenau, PA and trackage rights on CSX continuing on into New Castle where interchange was made. The line had it's origins as the Buffalo, Rochester & Pittsburgh RR, a profitable coal hauler that was acquired by the B&O in 1932. G&W had previously taken control of the Rochester line under the banner of their Rochester & Southern RR. In 1992 the G&W bought the Allegheny RR and in 1996 the Pittsburg & Shawmut, and the operations of both were melded into the B&P.
